Celebrating 9 Years with CFI

Yumika is a dedicated and experienced member of the CFI team. She currently serves as the Asia Export Department Supervisor in Los Angeles, CA. As she approaches her nine-year anniversary in June, we’d like to take a moment to highlight her journey and contributions.

Journey to CFI

Yumika’s path to CFI began at a Cathay Airlines party, where she met Brian Terasawa. At the time, she was with a previous employer, but the connection led to an opportunity to join CFI, and she hasn’t looked back since.

A Day in the Life

A typical day for Yumika involves a lot of movement—quite literally. While she jokes about running back and forth between the office and the warehouse, those who know her well are familiar with her brisk walking pace. Her responsibilities are varied and dynamic, including handling customer needs, managing bookings, and overseeing entries. Amidst the hustle and bustle, Yumika cherishes her brief, peaceful coffee breaks.

Changes at CFI

Reflecting on her time at CFI, Yumika recalls that the acquisition by Kuehne+Nagel in 2017 was initially perceived as a massive change. However, despite the strategic upgrades, the internal culture maintained its family-oriented atmosphere, something she truly values.

The Best Part of the Job

For Yumika, the best part of working in logistics is the chaotic nature of the business. Each day presents new challenges, and the team’s collective effort to overcome these hurdles brings a strong sense of accomplishment.

Insights into the Role

Yumika wishes more people understood that her work goes beyond data entry and document printing. The job requires a diverse set of skills to ensure smooth and efficient operation.

Advice for Longevity at CFI

When asked about longevity at CFI, Yumika emphasizes the importance of teamwork and learning to rely on colleagues. Building strong relationships within the team is key to long-term success and satisfaction.

Building a Strong Career

Yumika’s general career advice is not to fear making mistakes. As a self-professed perfectionist, she learned that striving for perfection is counterintuitive. Instead, embracing mistakes as part of the learning process and being open to new experiences has been crucial in her personal and professional growth.

Life Outside of Work

In her spare time, Yumika enjoys cooking and experimenting with new recipes. She also has a green thumb and is currently growing cucumbers, tomatoes, cilantro, and more in her mini garden.

Yumika’s dedication, positive outlook, and willingness to embrace change make her an invaluable member of the CFI team. Here’s to many more years of success and growth!
