They say, “Love what you do, and you will never work a day in your life.” Yet, that feels like it doesn’t go quite far enough. At CFI, we prefer to say, “Love what you do and the people you’re doing it with, and you’ll never work a day in your life.” And nobody in our organization embodies that like Evangeline O’Neill, Cross-Dock Supervisor at CFI – Boston.
Evangeline leads a team of three people in the rapid process of transloading cargo under tight deadlines and works alongside her husband of almost a decade, JJ. Previously employed by Peninsula in the accounting department, Evangeline stayed on when CFI purchased the company in 2015 as a Customer Service Supervisor, offering the personal touch that CFI is known for in other offices.
“It’s challenging here, but it’s fun. We learn a lot, and every day brings a surprise. Meeting new people, finding new ways of doing things more efficiently, and diving in to solve problems creatively brings us closer together. Many people refer to it as a family, but it’s a well-oiled machine built on trust, friendship, and a love of what we do,” Evangeline explains when asked about her favorite part of the job.
A native of the Philippines, Evangeline came to the US in 2010 with her sister, who needed a kidney transplant. In a miraculous opportunity, though Evangeline wasn’t a match for her sister, another man in America was a match to receive Evangeline’s donation, and a member of his family was a match for Evangeline’s sister. Both recipients and donors are flourishing as one big grateful bunch.
When asked where she would like to see CFI in five years, Evangeline looks forward to more of the same on all levels. “I want to learn more skills, more about billing, becoming more familiar with new systems, and to continue being exposed to more facets of the industry while working with such a strong, dedicated team. We get so much support from other offices that it’s essential that we can return that favor every day when they need CFI – Boston.
When she’s not working, Evangeline enjoys spending time with her sister, JJ, and his family. Her favorite hobby is being with her daughter and wondering when she might become a grandmother.
