General Accounts Payable Team Lead | CFI LAX

On December 12th, we proudly celebrate Brenda Boyd’s 20th anniversary with CFI. From her first day as a temporary hire in 2005 to now leading our General Accounts Payable team in LAX, Brenda is and has been a pillar of consistency, growth, and heart within our organization.

A Journey That Started in 2005

Brenda first joined CFI on August 15, 2005, through a staffing agency. What began as a temporary role quickly became a long-term career defined by dedication and excellence.

“There’s always something new to learn. That’s what keeps it exciting,” Brenda says. And it shows—her willingness to develop new skills and embrace new tasks is part of what makes her such an asset.

What’s a Day in Brenda’s World?

Her mornings kick off with banking tasks and key administrative responsibilities—usually after reviewing and prioritizing emails. Behind every processed invoice is Brenda’s sharp eye for detail and her drive to support operations across the board. Between double-checking for accuracy and ensuring documentation is organized and accessible, CFI LAX is steady under Brenda’s watch.

“What people don’t always see is the level of responsibility involved. One small action can impact a lot of people,” she notes.

Two Decades of Change and Growth

CFI has grown tremendously over the last 20 years, and Brenda has had a front-row seat. She has helped the company expand nationwide and watched as this shift toward remote work reshapes how teams connect and collaborate.

Yet, her favorite memory? It’s all about connection:

“When the whole company and our families would gather for picnics—that was special.”

Brenda’s Wisdom for the Next Generation

With 20 years of insight under her belt, Brenda shares this advice for those starting out:

  • “Don’t expect to learn everything overnight.” Freight forwarding is complex and ever-changing.
  • “Ask questions and stay focused.” Especially in perishables, where time is of the essence.
  • “Balance is everything.” As Brenda puts it, “Play hard, work harder.”

Life Outside of Logistics

When she’s not mastering payables or mentoring new team members, Brenda’s busy being “Grandma Extraordinaire” to fourteen grandchildren. She also loves cheering on the 49ers, catching NASCAR races (Go Chase Elliott!), and firing up her grill for weekend BBQs and baking sessions.

Why We Love Brenda

She’s dedicated, approachable, and embodies the spirit of CFI: professional integrity, a love for the team, and a knack for building lasting relationships.

“It’s the friendly work environment and the flexibility that have kept me here,” she says.

Brenda, thank you for two incredible decades of commitment, leadership, and heart. Here’s to many more!
