The second day of Seafood Expo is in the books and I’ve filed this report before having to leave to return to the West Coast this evening. Ryan Kuehlewind will be filing tomorrow’s final report – including the name of the winner of our drone giveaway.
I started the day attending a meeting of the Salmon Council. Part of the National Fisheries Institute, CFI joined this year as an associate member. The goal of the Salmon Council is to increase awareness of salmon as a viable and approachable seafood product for people to buy and prepare at home. The Council includes many of the largest companies in the salmon industry who set aside their competitive differences to promote the industry overall.
Throughout the day today our team were scattered about the show floor and Convention Center meeting with importers, exporters, buyers and carriers. This show also serves as a chance for us to learn and identify vendors that offer solutions to benefit our operation and customers.
Temperature sensors, light-weight plastic packaging, flake ice producing machines and banding machines are just a small subset of the equipment and supplies that we use throughout our twelve locations. Lighter weight packaging that maintains durability reduces the amount that our customers pay for air freight, which as we all know is based by weight.
Tomorrow is the final day of the show which goes until 3 PM. Then CFI and our fellow exhibitors will begin packing up their booth and have circled March 11 – 13, 2018 to be back in Boston in less than a year. A traditionally slower day, we’re looking forward to catching up with our clients and recording some material that you’ll see us deploying in the future – so stay tuned.
Much like yesterday, we’ve also put up a gallery of pictures from today on Facebook. And if you’ve not dialed into our Instagram account, don’t miss that, either.
